I was born in Newport News, Virginia in 1988. Today i live in Drewryville,
Virginia, with my Father and my Baby, Amar'e.
I am a Senior at UNCC (University of North Carolina at Charlotte). My major is English, with a minor in Philosophy. My first book was published in the Spring of 2009. It is a book about my Mother, titled "Memories About A Remarkable Person: My Mother REDA FAARD KHALIFAH."
My Mother transitioned in December of 1997; since then i have been determined and driven to make something of myself that she would be pleased to call me a good daughter. The book accelerates that quest.
In the book I recapture and record my tender memories of my Mom. I also tell about a slice of her life in living color pictures; about 30 of them. The pictures make the book pricey, but she was such a beautiful, warm and intelligent individual that anything less would not have given her justice.
I am sure i get my entrepreneur drive from my Mother. I am also sure you will agree when you see the pictures because they tell not only about her personal live, but a sampling of her professional business life also.
Her intelligence is captured in yet another section of my book: I have reprinted a selection of her awesome writing skills. She was one of our leading health preventive Advocates. As such she introduced The Community to identifying and treating, in the 1980's, disease and maladies that most of Black America would not be knowledgeable about until 20 years later.
The essays include: "Smoking and Your Good Looks," "Understanding and Treating Prostate Cancer."
My second published book will be released in on August 21, 2011. Just in time to be introduced to "Pilgrims" at The Nat Turner Reference Library," here at our home to celebrate the Third Annual Nat Turner Day. For more information call (704) 390-0663.
